My truck originally came with a simple durable 4.8L V8 but I blew up the 4 speed. Blake said we could convert it to a 6 speed. Did some custom wiring and the guys put in the 6L80E behind the little 4.8L, programmed and returned the shift pattern strategy and got rid of the dumb partial lock up on the torque converter and we upgraded a few parts. @lifewithapeperoni worked his magic with some custom exhaust work. I got the truck back and put brackets and stainless clamps to hold the wiring and custom cooling lines in place.

What you get is a truck that is simple and works really well. The gauge cluster swap from Southridge Gauge Fix works and the 4X4 indicator all works. Small details but huge for user interaction.

I didn`t do the whole sound system, just updating the head unit to @pioneercaraudio to give better audio processing and wireless Android Auto and CarPlay and installed a backup camera.

I love full basic setups like this. You hear and experience music more, the way the artist intended.

Some people ask why our doors are tall. We spec`d the doors to be .5` taller than legal driving height. This makes the shop feel open when both doors are open all the way and if you want to pull in a crane truck or dump truck you don`t really have to worry or think.

I worked at a place that didn`t factor this in and a lot of work had to be done in the sun or rain due to a simple oversight that is too costly to correct.

@gmparts_acdelco makes a performance brake rotor for towing and severe duty applications. The diameter is the same as stock but the metallurgy is significantly different with a higher carbon content.

These rotors handle heat way better and grab awesome with @akebono_aftermarket pads. We get these parts @lordcoparts which is nice because there`s no specialty parts used for a brake upgrade.

My favourite way to upgrade brakes is to just put bigger replacement parts from another vehicle or trim level. Our 300S is a 6 cylinder so it has an upgraded suspension but small brakes and 20" wheels.

Ordered the @gmparts_acdelco 14.5" big brake police rotors, Geotech calipers with @akebono_aftermarket pads from @lordcoparts

We got almost 2 inches bigger on diameter, and a rotor with a high carbon content. You get overkill front brakes at a reasonable price and they`re easy to bleed and service. And they look great with the factory 20" wheel.

Been diagnosing more malfunctioning devices and you`d be amazed how often it`s a factory ground. This is why I`m so big on cleaning the metal and spraying with a corrosion inhibitor like @fluidfilmusa to preserve the connection.

Had a Chevy Colorado I found the ground behind the engine air filter caused the blower motor to no operate. You don`t know how they design these harnesses because production speed is a factor in design.

Doing this will ensure functionality and potentially save a lot of money.

The engineers that designed the GMT800 were really thoughtful. Lots of space and the intention for owners to be able to service with basic hand tools. We swapped the radiator, serpentine tensioner and belts with relative ease thanks to the engine bay layout.

Which is amazing since new trucks are larger and taller, but have less space under the hood? 🤨

I used to have an IPad flushed in the cabinet but it wasn`t the greatest efficiency tool and I think it`s a bad idea to have a device with a lithium ion battery enclosed like that. I have a Maus fire suppression stick there but I don`t think it would extinguish thermal runaway and I did charge it on a timer so it would only charge a couple hours every day.

Found the trend of electronic calenders (which is still a tablet) but the O.S. is designed with efficiency and task management. Picked up @cozyla_calendar because it`s Android based, works with my Google home, streams music to my @sonos ARC and has no subscription. Has no battery and a simple powerful way to automate the home for lists, chores and entertainment.

This one was fun. Replaced the factory amp with @jlaudio_ MX500 4 channel setup up as a 3 channel to drive the front stage through passive crossovers and the tailgate dual voice coil sub woofer. Used the head unit to drive the small speakers in the rear and sliding door and used capacitors to filter out bass frequencies. It`s really clear on the factory speakers and very robust and compact.

I`ve installed these @dormanproducts 800-409HP fittings from @lordcoparts on 4 trucks in the past 2 weeks and absolutelyove them. They look fantastic and won`t blow up when old like the O.E. ones. If you have a GM truck, you need these.
